Congressman Moran: "Schiavo Not Human"

Congressman Jim Moran (D-VA) was interviewed about his thoughts on Terri Schiavo on NewsTalk Channel 8, a local cable television show in Northern Virginia. In describing Schiavo's status, Moran said that "It's biological life, but it's not human life." I'm not sure what his definition of human life is, but it's clearly not the same one that I have.

Moran then went on to state that every doctor who looked at Schiavo's x-rays came to the same conclusion about Schiavo and that her death was the correct choice. Unfortunately, he never heard Dr. William Hammesfahr, a Nobel Prize-nominated doctor who specializes in such brain injuries. Dr. Hammesfahr repeated again on Hannity & Colmes tonight, "She absolutely can be rehabilitated. There's no question about that...We, and others I know, have treated many patients worse than Terri and have seen them regain independence and dignity."

Nothing like facts getting in the way of a good argument.
