The Good News in Iraq (for the Media)
You would think that the top story for the MSM yesterday would be the formation of an Arab government with the first elected leaders in the history of the Middle East. Perhaps they would mention a letter intended for Zarqawi that showed a terrible loss of morale among insurgents. Nope - no good news here.
According to the media, we should pull out all our troops and everything in Iraq will turn to gold. Zarqawi will be holding hands with Chalabi, singing each other's praises. I wonder whether Hamilton, Jefferson and Franklin could have formed a functional government with today's media.
Iraq's insurgency is roaring back to life with a series of deadly attacks aimed at crippling the country's new government and forcing a U.S. pullout. The government, meanwhile, is wracked by infighting, with its security forces still in training and no sign of a strategy to deal with the growing violence.
Militants may have been emboldened by the vacuum left while Iraq's first democratically elected representatives spent three months jockeying for power and struggling to form a government, officials concede.
