Soviet Veterans: WWII Victory was "Ours Alone"

As Moscow celebrates the 60-year anniversary to the end of WWII, Soviet veterans are taking credit for single handedly defeating the Nazis. A former Soviet general stated:
"Our allies, especially Great Britain and Churchill personally, sought to show that the main role in the victory belonged to them. We showed the world we could liberate half of Europe without the allies."

Granted, Soviet casualties significantly outnumbered those of the Allies. Nevertheless, there would have been a lot more had it not been for support and materials from the Allies. Also, I think the people of Eastern Europe (and the Soviet Union) killed and repressed by Stalin would have chosen a different word than "liberate" to describe Soviet actions.
