Abu Ghraib Part II: Mark Foley

I ask myself every election cycle how the Republicans can win when the overwhelming sentiment in the news coverage favors Democrats. (Remember those forged CBS documents in 2004 or the DUI charge in 2000?) It happens every election and this year is no different. Unfortunately, when you get a Mark Foley story, it remains on the front pages for months and there's not much the party can do but fight back. Just as in Abu Ghraib, the MSM would produce one new picture or thought every day for several weeks, claiming that it was news. The same will happen with Mark Foley, as new emails / instant messages are produced, new pages come forward, etc. I am quite sure this will last at least another month.

In fact, some Democrats are simply flat out lying about the Mark Foley story, hoping that no one challenges them on it. Republicans still have a chance, but unless GOP candidates fight back strongly, we might as well get used to impeachment proceedings over the next two years.
