Colin Powell the Pretender

Colin Powell has officially endorsed Sen. Obama as President. Despite Powell saying he took time to study the candidates, Obama spoke the truth when he said that Colin Powell has already been advising his campaign. So are we supposed to think that Powell was undecided as he was "advising the Obama campaign?" Of course not.

And as the WSJ points out this morning, if Powell really believes "we have to fix the reputation that we've left with the rest of the world," he should have been forthright in the exact role he played in it. He also should have been asked why he wanted to stay on for a second term if those were his feelings. Finally, as the article mentions, why did he allow that drama of the phony Plame scandal drag on for years when it was his office that created the mess and he knew the entire truth of the matter in the first place?

Yes, Powell is more concerned with propping up his failed legacy and unsterling end of his career than he is with being objective. Sour grapes.
