Peggy Noonan Now a Full-Fledged Liberal
As most people say, if you hang around Washington long enough, you start to enjoy the cocktail parties and your desire to be liked overcome any desire to stick to your principles. So it is with Peggy Noonan, who for the past couple of years has enjoyed appearing on shows with uber-Leftists like Chris Matthews. Today in the WSJ she attempts to make a case for a Barack Obama presidency.
The article was, unfortunately, incomplete and absurd. She doesn't look at any Obama policies, any of his radical associations or his voting record, but instead judges him solely on a few throw-away lines he uttered during the campaign and his desire for "change." She thinks that by accelerating the hated massive spending policies of Bush is "change" and that this somehow will heal the country.
I'm not sure if Peggy Noonan was ever really a conservative, although she has always been quick to say that she was a speechwriter in the Reagan Administration. But there is no longer any question - trying to argue that Obama is acceptable to "conservatives" is completely laughable. And so is she. Good riddance - with conservatives like that, who needs 'em?
