Happy New Year: Let's Raise Gas Taxes

A federal commission is calling for...what else, a 50% tax increase on gasoline. In addition, the commission wants to figure out a way for motorists to be taxed for using roads via increased tolls.

I thought that citizens were taxed in order to receive some benefit of services. Now we are being told that we also have to pay for everything separately on top of all our taxes. It begs the question of what in the world taxes are used for in the first place.
