Stealing Kennedy's Seat

It looks like MA Governor Deval Patrick wants to CHANGE Massachusetts law to allow him to appoint a replacement to Senator Kennedy (RIP). Some might say that Patrick wants to STEAL KENNEDY'S SEAT. For frame of reference, this was the law prior to 2004, but was overturned in 2004 and said a special election must now decide a vacated seat.

Why was this 2004 law enacted in the first place you might ask? Well let's go back to 2004. Mitt Romney was Governor. Massachusetts democrats did not want a Republican Governor appointing someone to a Senate Seat (if it were vacated) and so they changed the law to preempt this from ever happening. Thus, they decided that a better course of action is if a special election take place withing 145-160 days. Pretty sneaky? You bet. But I actually favor the idea as these "special appointees" are ripe with corruption -as can be seen with the Obama/Blogojevich/Burris back door triumvirate deal which wreaked havoc in Illinois.

Now the tides have turned again - with the ever popular Democrat Governor Deval Patrick in power. Democrats, once again want to have things their way, and Patrick has said he is now in favor of RE-CHANGING THE LAW AGAIN to suit the Massachusetts Democratic Party. He wants his appointee, just like what they had in Chicago. I guess that makes sense - Patrick may have learned a thing or two from bosom buddies Obama and Blogojevich.

Sneaky? Corrupt? Only in Massachusetts.... and Chicago.
