Republicans Win Important Challenge in Washington

Superior Court Judge John Bridges gave Republicans the OK to apply proportional analysis to illegal vote casting in last November's gubernatorial race in Washington state. The trial is set for May 23 (Hat tip to What Attitude Problem for the story.)
Republicans claim they have identified more than 1,000 illegal votes - mostly ballots cast by felons, but also unverified provisional ballots and votes cast in the names of dead people.

Call me crazy, but I actually want the Democrats to keep the Washington governorship. Washington is typically a slightly Democratic state and Christine Gregoire's win by 129 votes only after two recounts reminds voters that Democrats stole the election. I believe it would help the GOP in the 2006 Senate race if today's underhanded results were to stand.
