Tim Russert Shows True Colors

Tim Russert, often well-disguised in his partisan interviewing, pressed Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff for his resignation on Sunday's Meet the Press.

"Your Web site says that your department assumes primary responsibility for a national disaster," he continued in prosecutorial tones. "

If you knew a hurricane 3 storm was coming, why weren't buses, trains, planes, cruise ships, trucks provided on Friday, Saturday, Sunday to evacuate people before the storm?"

Perhaps Russert doesn't know that hundreds of city buses were at New Orleans' disposal, but the ineptness of the city government didn't bother using them for evacuating residents. Clearly, even the state and city governments didn't think the disaster would warrant such precautions.

Regardless, Russert has long been a Bush critic despite disguising his liberal stances rather well. Once again, it's all Bush's fault..
