AP's View on Snow: Lacked Command of the Facts
In the world of obituary tributes, Doug Powers of the AP's "tribute" of Tony Snow is one of the more offensive.
First of all, this is incorrect - Snow's command of the facts far outweighed any reporter by far. Second, does anyone recall the press saying the same thing about Tim Russert (or any Democrat journalist)? Of course, the AP also takes no pains to take a few digs at the President, reminding us of a few quotes where Snow as commentator criticized Bush.
With a quick-from-the-lip repartee, broadcaster's good looks and a relentlessly bright outlook — if not always a command of the facts — he became a popular figure around the country to the delight of his White House bosses.
