Murtha Admits Surge Working, but Lies About Troops (Again)
Pittsburgh news station KDKA reporter Joe Delano (who incidentally, is a longtime Democrat, even losing a bid for Congress himself) interviews John Murtha about the Iraq surge. Although Murtha admitted that the surge has been working, he also had these interesting tidbits (from Newsbusters):
The report that came out last week obviously showed that they have solved 15 of 18 benchmarks. So have the surge tactics worked?
Despite the much-hyped Haditha charges being thrown out, Murtha still insists that U.S. troops are thugs. Just another day in the life of a Blame America First Democrat.
Incidents have decreased, but still, the problem politically still faces, the fact that we can't solve the problem, the political guidelines that have been set up. I think we have 17 guidelines and they've solved four or five of them. (1) So there's a long way to go.

Well, I think for the short-term, it has certainly reduced incidents. I'm not sure whether it's because of the Iraqis just being worn out, but certainly the way they're doing it today makes a big difference. It used to be we broke down doors, we went in and we killed people inadvertently. Now they're much more careful about that.
