Vaclav Klaus to Assume EU Presidency

It's a new dawn in Europe (at least symbolically), as Vaclav Klaus, the anti-communist, anti-global warming, free market disciple of Milton Friedman, assumes the EU presidency.

This should be fun to watch, as most left-wing intellectuals, including Dan Bilefsky, who wrote this article about Klaus in the IHT, generally hold Klaus in contempt. But it will be nice to hear some common sense from the other side of the pond again.
