Gaelic Making a Comeback?

Law Dog points out the following article from Notre Dame where Irish Gaelic and Irish studies courses are beginning to make a little bit of a comeback. This academic year, 882 undergraduate students are taking at least one class in Irish studies, including 155 in Irish language. That's up from the 2002-03 academic year, when 150 students enrolled in Irish studies classes and 96 signed up for Irish language.

Who knows, just as many Spanish speakers are pushing for another official language in the U.S., maybe there will be a similar push for mandatory Irish Gaelic road signs someday...

Until then, have a pint of Guinness.
