Are Gas Prices Really at Record Highs?

You don't have to be a brain surgeon to realize where gas prices are these days. The problem is that the media are misleading consumers about "record" prices because they do not adjust for inflation. In reality, average gas prices would have to hit $2.97 a gallon to hit "record levels," adjusted for inflation. But as this article points out, that doesn't stop news anchors from telling a good story - and if it might somehow hurt Bush and his "connections to the oil industry," then so be it.

I never hear anything about our "record" GDP or any other positive news.
