Nearly Unanimous: GOP Will Lose Big

It's hard to find pundits who are optimistic about the GOP's chances this year. Recently, three conservative pundits that I respect all say the GOP is doomed. Brit Hume, Bill Kristol and Fred Barnes (his new downbeat article here) are all on board that the GOP will likely lose both the House and the Senate. Meanwhile, President Bush and Karl Rove are quite optimistic.

I fail to believe any of these polls. They are often constructed to provide desired results, both by the questions asked and the sample used. The results are then often used to "prove" pre-conceived hypotheses. Polls were proven to be terribly wrong in 2004 (which resulted in Dems screaming election fraud). Finally, the GOP still has a huge money advantage, which it will use in the final three weeks of the campaign.

"If the election were held today..." is meaningless. The fact is they are held the first week in November and GOP strategy revolves around this fact. I don't know who will win next month, but I will put my money on Karl Rove and President Bush over any number of meaningless polls.
