Michelle Obama began making $316,000 per year in 2005 (the year after Barack earmarked $1 million to her hospital, incidentally). Barack Obama makes approx. $165,000 as a U.S. Senator. That's only $481,000 per year. Thank God for Barack's books because the poor Obamas simply would never have been able to get out of debt on that kind of income.
