McCain Really Angling for Romney as VP?

The leak to the MSM is that McCain is considering a pro-abortion candidate such as Tom Ridge or Joe Lieberman to be VP. Erik Erickson at Red State expresses his disgust over the thought.

I actually think this is a strategic leak by McCain so that when he selects Romney as VP, the evangelical Christians who might otherwise be skeptical of a Mormon might just say, "Well, at least he's a pro-lifer." I just don't think McCain would throw away his chances of losing all evangelicals. If this is his strategy, I have to admit it's pretty smart.
