The Truth behind the White House Meeting

News is coming out about what actually happened in the White House meeting. There was no deal going into the meeting.

Apparently all the Dems in the room deferred to Obama, who was handed notes from an email sent by a Goldman Sachs employee and Obama fundraiser about concerns of the House GOP bill. So in an effort to look presidential, Obama began by repeating the criticisms of the House GOP bill and then turned the meeting back to Paulson. Having no clue what Obama was talking about, the meeting descended into chaos and he couldn't regain control.

McCain didn't say much but was trying to be conciliatory to keep the meeting going, but to no avail. Of course, the Democratic spin control began immediately afterwards, fearful of how Obama would look if he were seen chairing a meeting that resulted in a disaster. So the spin is that there was a deal, McCain showed up and blew it up. The House GOP was never onboard - but despite this, Pelosi already has the votes if she really wants to pass it.
