Toomey to Challenge Specter

Conservative Republican Pat Toomey will challenge Arlen Specter for his Senate seat in Pennsylvania in 2010. This is a win-win for conservatives. Either Toomey displaces Specter (although they both will have a reasonably tough fight to win), or Specter fights for his life between now and then and becomes more conservative between now and then.

Hopefully conservatives will learn from the Lincoln Chafee disaster in Rhode Island - trying to pick a Republican because he might be liberal enough to win Democrats is not a strategy for success.
