Greenspan in on the Right-Wing Conspiracy

In an interesting political strategy, Harry Reid said about Alan Greenspan, " "I'm not a big Greenspan fan. ... I voted against him two times. I think he's one of the biggest political hacks we have in Washington."

Apart from the fact that the feeling is likely mutual, I can't help but wonder whether there is a better strategy for Democrats than to attack the most highly-respected Fed Chairman the U.S. has ever had - someone who has steered the U.S. through several presidencies, both Democrat and Republican, 2 recessions, several wars, a stock market bubble and a terrorist attack.

Has it really come to this? Was Karl Rove planning the Greenspan appointment way back in the 80s?
