Maryland Governor Outlaws Night Goggles for Police

Score one for Governor Bob Ehrlich, who decided to outlaw the use of night vision goggles to spy on motorists to determine whether they are wearing seatbelts. (Apparently these offenders - not illegal aliens - are the real criminals in Maryland.)

Borrowed from the military, the equipment was used only during a three-hour test in the Rockville area of Montgomery County Wednesday night.

I believe the state handed out approximately 50 tickets to residents who were not wearing seatbelts. No word on whether they will still have to pay the fines, but when was the last time any government turned down taxpayer money?
