Obama: I Was Wrong; Bush Was Right on Columbia

Obama has changed his stance and has now come out in favor of the US-Columbia Free Trade Agreement. As a senator, Obama vigorously opposed this agreement, as he did most free trade agreements (Cafta, South Korea, Chile, Nafta). Now he's come out in favor of the same agreement that Bush pushed so hard to pass (but couldn't as Dems blocked him).

Hey, I don't care who came up with the idea (Bush), and I'll forgive Obama's initial resistance to the idea. Just like I didn't oppose when Clinton sponsored Nafta in 93 (10 years after Reagan initally tried to pass the bill), we have to let bygones be bygones if it's good policy. I applaud Obama's admitting he was wrong (not verbally of course, but through actions).

Hopefully Obama will now come out and endorse free trade for our own continent.

*Update*
According to StoptheACLU.com, Obama is now doing an about face on 2 other free trade agreements as well, with Panama, and South Korea, all of which he has opposed in the past. Maybe he's learned some Econ 101 from one of his economic advisors. Whatever the reason, let's go for it.

And if we can get him to change and now endorse the Bush tax cuts as well - that's change I could live with!
