Obama Votes Present on Weiner Resignation
Yesterday, when the White House was asked about Anthony Weiner, the spokesman responded that what Anthony Weiner did was "inappropriate," and that it was a "distraction." But when asked whether Obama thought Weiner should resign, Jay Carney reiterated that it was "inappropriate" and a "distraction" and that was as far as the White House would comment.
Well, I'm sure the backlash must have been pretty strong against the White House's original comments because a few hours later, Obama changed his tune as he got on tv himself and said, "it's a decision for him and his constituents, but if it were me, I'd resign."
My problem with this is that it's typical Obama - he has an innate ability not to take a stand on topics, similar to his extraordinary record of voting present on most bills. To me, calling Weiner's actions "inappopriate" is the understatement of the decade. Yeah - no kidding. Likewise, any idiot could tell that it was a distraction. Really Mr. President? You think this was a distraction? Of course he changed his tune as soon as someone did a straw poll (probably) and found that the 92% of Americans thought the White House's comments were pretty ridiculous.
Is this Obama's typical indifference where he really can't tell the difference between right and wrong, or was he covering for a loyal Democratic friend? My guess is it's a little of both.
Typical Obama. Ugh.
