Mayor Bloomberg's "Potty Parity Bill" for NYC

There are many areas in business where the government does not belong and the bathroom is one of them. Unfortunately for business owners in NYC, Mayor Bloomberg signed a new law that requires 2 female toilets for every male toilet.

As John Hawkins points out, the government has no idea about the gender makeup of individual businesses and it should just keep its hands off. If there are not enough female toilets in a restaurant and women have to wait in long lines, they don't have to go back. Ultimately the business owner will get the message and remedy the problem. Even if a business has a 20:1 male to female ratio, they still have to follow the new law.
