The Amnesty Bill

The Senate passed an immigration bill today, which many conservatives strongly disapprove. Michelle Malkin has much more coverage, including the definition of "amnesty".

Normally, whenever Harry Reid's reaction is gleeful (or even approving), I would get very nervous. In this case, however, I won't get too worried because I don't think the House will go along with many of the provisions.

I have another thought on amnesty though - I think we badly need tax reform in this country. Perhaps we should start a movement by encouraging millions of people not to pay any taxes. Soon the numbers will be so large that the government won't be able to enforce the laws anymore and will have to address the issue by granting us all amnesty. Soon, millions of other legal taxpayers will see our benefits and will also decide to stop paying taxes. And so on.

The interesting thing is that if Congress enacted a plan that stopped the waves of illegal aliens, many Americans would probably be willing to grant amnesty to those that are already here. But we were already fooled with that rhetoric.
